What about geothermal power?

The People's Republic of China does have some geothermal power, but also has major plans to introduce much more. This should make a very good section. -67.169.152.121 (talk) 20:02, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Needs article: Energy Research Institute (China)

Regarding the Environmental protection and energy conservation section and the energy production and consumption section

I feel like the sections of Environmental protection and energy conservation section as well as the energy production and consumption are not directly connected to the Chinese renewable energy, maybe it is better to cancel them from this article, build a separated "energy in China" page for them and link it back to this page. Erroneous information.

the article said in 2006 16% of china's electricity came from renewable sources. i went to check the source, but its a broken link. I googled it and found a newspaper article at http://english.caijing.com.cn/2009-08-25/110229095.html saying 16% is only target set for 2020. As of 2006 only 7 percent of electricity are from renewable sources.

I tried the link after the statement "in 2007 17% of china's electricity came from renewable sources" also, it is broken, but if you google the title, this reference can be found: http://www.worldwatch.org/node/5491. And it does said that China obtain 17% of its electricity from renewables in 2007 -- original text is " China currently obtains 8 percent of its energy and 17 percent of its electricity from renewables—shares that are projected to increase to 15 percent and 21 percent by 2020." the 7% in the article at http://english.caijing.com.cn/2009-08-25/110229095.html is the percentage of energy (power) instead of electricity generated by renewables. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qiaochina (talk • contribs) 22:27, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

(23 April 2012) I've altered the link so it now refers to the real Worldwatch Report - also, you're quite right to be concerned about the discrepancy in the data - is it 7%, is it 17%? - but it depends on how you calculate your data. If you include biofuels in your definition of "renewable" (it's fair - biofuels are renewable, they're just not carbon-free) then obviously you'll have a much higher figure than if you're not including those sorts of fuels. Renewables and nuclear

Hydropower in China needs a main article.

The "Hydropower in China" section's "Further information" link only goes to the article on hydropower in general, instead of going to a main article on hydropower in China specifically. This is inconsistent with the rest of the article. For instance, the "Wind Power in China" section does have a main article that is specifically about wind power in China, instead of wind power in general. -66.74.19.201 (talk) 16:37, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
