File:Bangladesh Football Federation.svg[edit]
Hi Whpq. Would you mind taking a look at this edit? You removed the file from Bangladesh national football team per Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2022 December 14#File:Bangladesh Football Federation.svg started by JJMC89. For what it's worth, the same user who added the rationale for this file's use in the national team article has done similar things for files that were removed per FFD or NFCR discussion. Their account is only a day old, so they could just not be aware of why the files were removed. At the same time, their account is only a day old, but they could have just created it specifically to readd files to team articles and avoid using perhaps their primary account. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:51, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
Acapulco Chair- backwards copy?[edit]
Sorry to bother you, but, as the deleting admin, would you mind taking a look at Acapulco Chair and double checking whether it was a copyvio or an unattributed translation from the es:Silla Acapulco article that was later backwards copied and machine-translated to that webpage? (the esWiki article appears to pre-date the website by a few months). I'm really only asking because I'm wondering if I should request a CCI into the article's creator, and I want to see if I should list this example as a unattributed translation or a straight-forward copyvio. Thank you for looking into this. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 06:06, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- I see you've checked. Thanks for looking into it! GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 00:29, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for spotting this. I've undeleted the article and added the appropriate attribution. A CCI request is justified only if there is a evidence that there is a problem. Usually, this would be five instances of copyright violations. -- Whpq (talk) 00:29, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well, I've definitely found over 5 instances of copyvios, plus a few unattributed translations, plus some dodgy commons files, plus copyright warnings on here and eswiki going back as 2018. I ended up opening a request yesterday, which I hope was the appropriate thing to do. I'm not entirely familiar with CCI (the only other request I've been involved in is one Diannaa filed for me, but I don't think I can expect her to do everything for me lol) Thanks again for looking into the chair article. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 09:51, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I understand the removal of the copyvio-revdel template (I had not dug deeply enough into the websites copyright section to recognize the CC-BY statement), but this additon of the "CC text attribution notice" was probably unnecessary as the copied text had already been removed as irrelevant to the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- I tend to err on the side of caution figuring if it was worthy of rev-del as a copyvio then an an attribution should be added if it is missing. As for the licensing, academic papers seem to hide their licensing in a myriad of ways. sticking in the CC license in the paper itself would be the logical thing to do and sometimes that happens. And then sometimes it is in a separate license link on the web page like here. And I'm pretty sure I've seen an instance of the license statement being a general one for the journal with no mention in the paper or the specific web page. -- Whpq (talk) 15:32, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – May 2024[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2024).

- The arbitration case Conflict of interest management has been closed.
- This may be a good time to reach out to potential nominees to ask if they would consider an RfA.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2024 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles in the new pages feed. Currently, there is a backlog of over 15,000 articles awaiting review. Sign up here to participate!

Question about file permission[edit]
Would it be a valid form of permission for me to forward an email to the Wikipedia Commons team that includes permission for certain images? Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 15:31, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am not a VRT member and I am not familiar with their processes. The best course of action would be to contact VRT for guidance. Whpq (talk) 15:56, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
You deleted Danny Lauter[edit]
Hi, you deleted the Danny Lauter as a former AfD page, but the page is back after being recreated and then moved from Danny lauter, as well as Draft:DannyLauter. The WP:GAMENAME is obvious, but I want to confirm the page is the similar enough to the one deleted by the AfD discussion and completely correct as a candidate of the CSD before I take any further action. I would note that the author has been removing the CSD tags. If it's different enough, would you mind letting me know and I'll hold off? Thanks, microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 15:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- It's the same. -- Whpq (talk) 15:05, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Of course. Thanks for your attention. Any chance you feel the need to salt Danny lauter as that seems to be the current route of page recreation? microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 15:06, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well, I've applied it to the title with proper capitalisation. Let's see if this stops. Whpq (talk) 15:11, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, how's it going, I was trying to move it to drafts. Anyway you guys could please help. I'm a bit confused. I created it to keep working on it but it would not let me move it to drafts. I am so sorry for all of the trouble! ElizaK89 (talk) 15:13, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

Do you remember User:GrahamBould?[edit]
Hello Whpq,
You may be interested in this post at WP:AN, and this related discussion at WP:CCI, involving edits by User:GrahamBould. A lot of their problematic edits from 2006-2009 have been dealt with back then, by you and other volunteers at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Gastropods/Subpage for organizing CopyVio Cleanup, but some that were missed have now resurfaced. One article had most of its revision history deleted yesterday (1251 revisions spanning 18 years), and there are about 1700 articles that may be affected. As one of the few editors who are still active out of those who were involved in the original cleanup operation, maybe you can remember what happened back then, and have ideas how to best proceed. Thank you! Renerpho (talk) 06:44, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
